Model of Behaviour Change (COM-B) [38, 45]. The relationship between capability, opportunity, motivation and behaviour, forming the basis of the BCW. The arrows demonstrate how each part in the COM-B model interacts within the behaviour system. Capability influences motivation, opportunity also influences motivation, which then impacts on behaviour. Motivation tends to drive behaviour, however behaviour can influence motivation. Capability moderates the link between behaviour and motivation, as does opportunity. The behaviour system exists as a cycle and is an important model to consider when designing and evaluating interventions that aim to change behaviour
