  1. Note. A total of 8 women (5 pregnant and 3 new mothers) participated in the first focus group and a total of 5 women (3 pregnant and 2 new mothers) participated in the second focus group. Altogether, a combined total of 13 women (8 pregnant and 5 new mothers) participated in one of the two focus groups. BMI was calculated using the following formula: [weight (kg)] ÷ [height (m)]2. Independent sample t-tests (significance level set at alpha = 0.05) demonstrate that pregnant and postpartum women did not differ statistically with respect to age, pre-pregnancy BMI and current BMI.
