Rationale

The front-end application ran on a mobile phone

It is not feasible and affordable to use other computing devices such as personal computers.

The front-end application had to work in offline mode

There is limited network connectivity in the selected target environment.

The system used open-source technologies

This constraint was required to minimize the development costs of the system.

The system should also be publicly available as an open-source product

The system is not developed for profit. Rather it is to be used by the regional health Office as well as other interested parties.
