Influence on decision-making about symptom scenarios based on Internet searching by higher-SES and lower-SES. Etiological assessments that did not change as a result of the Internet search were coded as “no influence”; for etiological assessments where there was a change in decision from the initial decision (i.e., from correct to incorrect, incorrect to correct, unsure to either correct or incorrect, or correct/incorrect to unsure) were coded as “any influence.” When comparing the higher-SES with lower-SES, there was no significant difference for whether a participant changed their mind about the cause of their symptom etiology as a result of Internet searching (p = .62)
